Brief about the Department

he Pharmaceutical Chemistry department is considered one of the most important scientific departments in the faculties of pharmacy in general and in our college in particular, as this department was established in the academic year 2012/2013, i.e. with the establishment of the College of Pharmacy, which was introduced at the time with only two departments. The department includes a group of lecturers, specialized in various chemistry sciences, namely organic, analytical, inorganic, and pharmaceutical chemistry. The students are provided with basic theoretical and practical information about chemical compounds, chemical reactions, titration of chemical solutions, and their pharmaceutical effects, It puts the students on knowledge of the basic relationship between chemistry and pharmacology, linking the chemistry of drugs with therapeutic procedures, studying the relationship between the structural formula of drugs and their biological effect, as well as the structural analysis of drugs through the use of different spectral analyses. The department also contributes, in cooperation with the other college’s departments , to prepare qualified pharmacists who are ready to work in all medical, scientific and research fields, and provide pharmaceutical and health services to citizens in all public and private sectors.

 The department includes the following scientific laboratories: Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Advanced Pharmaceutical Analysis, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry
